Hair Testing

Hair testing is a great, affordable and non-invasive method of gaining a better insight as to what is going on inside the body. It involves cutting a small lock of hair and sending this away for analysis. As there are no needles or blood tests involved it is a great testing option for everyone – even babies.

The most popular test I offer is the Food & Environmental Sensitivity Test which is recommended for anyone wanting to find out if foods or other substances are leading to ill health. This is a really useful test for those suffering from eczema or other skin conditions, hay fever, sinus infections, any form of gastrointestinal upset, respiratory conditions or lowered immunity.

Other tests offered include:

Comprehensive Nutritional Test – reports on deficiencies or excesses of nutrients in the body.
Comprehensive Women’s Health Test – provides an insight into how your hormones and organs are functioning and the impact this has on your health.
Comprehensive Men’s Health Test – (as above)
Sleep & Mood Test – reports on your hormones, organs, relevant neurotransmitters and nutrients to help manage healthy sleep patterns.
Heavy Metal and Toxic Element Test – reports on the presence of heavy metals and toxic elements in the body that can be causing issues. This is the only test where coloured hair cannot be used (swabs taken from inside the mouth are used for this test).

I have sample reports available for those who would like to see specifically what information you get from a test. For any more information or if you would like to book in for one of these tests, please get in touch.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me! Hello and welcome!

A bit about me… I am Alice Ormond of Everyday Nutrition. I am a lover of all things food. If I’m not in the kitchen whipping up food, I’ll definitely be thinking about it, talking about it, if not eating it. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Food Science at the University of Otago, but subsequently became disillusioned in the direction I was taking and decided to retrain in holistic nutrition. Instead of filling our food full of preservatives, thickeners, colours, artificial this and that and endless numbers I feel it’s important to strip it back to a whole foods approach. I believe that is the direction we need to be taking – that filling our plates with fresh, colourful fruits and vegetables and minimally processed foods is the way to go. In the words of Hippocrates, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

With so much conflicting information out there on what to eat/what not to eat, it is no wonder many people are confused. With this in mind, I am offering nutritional consultations that assess your past and present health, current eating patterns and exploration of any symptoms that you may be experiencing. A personalised treatment plan is then created specific to your needs, beliefs, time constraints and budget to help you meet your goals. This may include suggestions for diet & lifestyle changes, supplements (where appropriate) and supporting information such as meal plans, recipes and shopping lists.
There are many reasons why you might come to see me. You may have digestive issues, eczema or other skin issues, PMS or other hormonal issues, thyroid issues, food intolerances, be experiencing fatigue, headaches, sleeplessness, low mood or have a desire to lose or gain weight. Some people may be totally confused about what to eat and just some want some general nutritional guidance or ideas of how to ensure their fussy-eating kids or newly vegan teenagers have a nutritious diet! It is now well accepted that many of the health problems people face today are caused by poor diet and lifestyle and good nutrition can have a far reaching impact on many aspects of our lives.
